6 Days Gorilla & Chimpanzee Safari

Day 1: Depart from Kampala – Journey to Bwindi

  • Morning: Depart from Kampala and drive southwest towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
  • En Route: Stop at the Equator crossing for photos and refreshments.
  • Lunch: Enjoy a meal at Regency Hotel or Agip Motel in Mbarara.
  • Afternoon: Continue the scenic drive through the highland rainforests, arriving at Mantana Tented Camp for check-in.
  • Evening: Relax and unwind at the camp, surrounded by the sounds of the forest.
  • Accommodation: Mantana Tented Camp

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

  • Early Morning: After breakfast, gather at the park headquarters for a briefing at 8:00 am.
  • Gorilla Trekking: Embark on a guided trek into the forest to observe mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The trek can last between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorilla group’s location.
  • Return: After the trek, return to Mantana Tented Camp to relax and share your experiences.
  • Accommodation: Mantana Tented Camp

 Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park

  • Morning: Enjoy breakfast at the camp before departing for Kibale National Park.
  • En Route: Drive through picturesque landscapes, with a lunch stop along the way.
  • Afternoon: Arrive at Ndali Safari Lodge, nestled on the rim of an extinct volcano overlooking Lake Nyinambuga.
  • Evening: Relax at the lodge, enjoying the serene environment and stunning views.
  • Accommodation: Ndali Safari Lodge

 Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale

  • Early Morning: After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing at 8:00 am.
  • Chimpanzee Trekking: Embark on a guided trek into Kibale Forest to observe chimpanzees and other primates such as red-tailed monkeys and grey-cheeked mangabeys. The trek offers insights into the forest’s rich biodiversity.
  • Afternoon: Visit the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, a community-based conservation area known for its diverse birdlife and primate species.
  • Evening: Return to Ndali Safari Lodge to relax and enjoy dinner with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
  • Accommodation: Ndali Safari Lodge

 Day 5: Return to Kampala

  • Morning: After breakfast, depart from Ndali Safari Lodge and drive back to Kampala.
  • Lunch: Stop for lunch en route, enjoying local cuisine.
  • Afternoon: Arrive in Kampala by early evening. Depending on your interests, you may choose to explore the city or relax at your hotel.
  • Accommodation: Hotel Africana

 Day 6: Departure

  • Morning: Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a leisurely breakfast and some free time.
  • Transfer: A Safari Spirit representative will transfer you to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
