3 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by a Safari Spirit Journeys representative. Enjoy a guided city tour, visiting key sites such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local craft centers, and the vibrant markets. After lunch, embark on a scenic drive to Ruhengeri, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Settle into the eco-friendly Virunga Lodge, perched on a hilltop with panoramic views of the Virunga Volcanoes and the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by the Rwanda Development Board. Accompanied by experienced trackers and guides, embark on a trek through the dense rainforest in search of one of the park’s habituated gorilla families. The trek can range from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Once located, spend a magical hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat.

In the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to engage with the local community and learn about their traditions and customs. Return to Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, a comfortable base with 30 stone-and-thatch cottages, each featuring a fireplace and en-suite bathroom.

Day 3: Scenic Drive Back to Kigali & Departure

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely drive back to Kigali, taking in the breathtaking landscapes of Rwanda’s rolling hills. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for last-minute shopping or a visit to local markets. Transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
